What happens in a session?
Solution Focused Hypnotherapy sessions last 60 mins. The first half of the session is spent engaging in solution focused brief therapy – where we look at where you are now and what you want to achieve. I help you to change unhelpful thinking patterns, to focus on the outcome that you want and discover small achievable goals. Sessions end with hypnosis, where you are guided into a state of focused attention and deep relaxation called trance. Here you will be guided through ideas and suggestions which will help you to achieve the changes you desire. During trance, although you feel as if you ‘have switched off’, your brain is actually highly active – processing information, embedding learning and searching your brain to come up with solutions. In this state, your mind is more responsive to suggestions that are designed to be beneficial to help you change unhelpful thought patterns and behaviours.
How many sessions will I need?
The amount of sessions required will vary from person to person and the issues you need to resolve. Clients decide when they are ready to stop therapy. Generally 8-12 sessions are required. However, smoking cessation is generally one long session of approx 2 hours. Specific phobias such as fear of spiders or flying etc can usually be resolved in approx 3 sessions after an initial consultation.
Smoking cessation is generally one long session of approx 120mins. Please note everyone is different and results vary from person to person – results cannot be guaranteed. Solution Focused Hypnotherapy is not a ‘magic wand’ treatment and requires clients to be motivated to change and to engage with the therapy.
What about confidentiality?
All information discussed during our sessions is fully confidential and treated with care. Your information is not shared unless you provide express permission for me to do so.
Am I accredited?
I hold a Diploma in Solution Focused Hypnotherapy (DSFH) and a Hypnotherapy in Practice Diploma (HPD) from the NCH (National Council of Hypnotherapists). I am also fully insured and hold an enhanced DBS certificate.
I would like to have online sessions but unsure about using online meeting apps.
Don’t worry it is straightforward to use and I can talk you through the process before our sessions so that you feel confident in using it.
