You are not behind
You are already enough
And that each small
Moment is already a thing of wonder …

I’ve lost weight … I’ve reached goals… I’ve got the “thing” …and I always thought when I did that was where I would find peace ..,

But you never do

Because it’s not there

It’s in us realising that where we are and who we are right now is enough .. we are in the right place for our journey and looking for what is wonderful in this moment .

FYI - I’m still working on it ! But just reminding myself of this really helps to take another step towards inner peace

I wonder what you tell yourself on repeat? It’s worth becoming aware of that ….When someone repeats a thought like “I always mess things up,” their brain starts to treat it as a pattern rather than just a passing idea. Through neuroplasticity, frequently used thought pathways become stronger and more automatic. Over time, this belief gets reinforced in the brain’s wiring, especially in circuits linked to habit and self-perception.

The brain also has a filtering system (often linked to the reticular activating system) that decides what information to pay attention to. If you believe you always fail, your brain will unconsciously look for evidence to support that—highlighting mistakes while ignoring successes. This creates a feedback loop where the belief feels more and more “true,” even if it’s not an accurate reflection of reality.

On top of that, negative self-talk can activate the brain’s threat system, increasing stress and making it harder to think clearly or take risks. So the story doesn’t just stay in your head—it shapes your emotions, your decisions, and ultimately your outcomes.

The key takeaway is that these patterns aren’t permanent. Because the brain can rewire itself, changing the way you talk to yourself can gradually weaken old pathways and build new, more supportive ones over time.

This is the first thing I would do …
It’s not a regulating technique
It’s a shift in perspective .
So Anxiety is a natural survival response .
But that resistance …. That “oh no I feel anxiety rising … what can I do to get rid of it?”

It feeds the anxiety .. the fuel that keeps it going …

All because you believe you can’t handle the “unbearable” feelings
But they are bearable - you just believe that they aren’t and must be avoided . But they cannot hurt you .
Try it for a few minutes at first - just notice those feelings and observe where you feel them in your body and just breath - give them space.
But don’t do this as a way to get rid of them - that is still resistance .

Every time, try to sit with them a bit longer

Then get on with whatever you want to do - the feelings can still be there but you refocus

Resistance fuels anxiety; acceptance and engagement dissolve it.

It’s not easy but it is the very first step to real change - that can change everything .

Because once you understand that you don’t need to avoid unbearable feelings - you can handle those things that once caused fear and anxiety .

It’s the first step

But it takes intention and repetition

You wouldn’t expect to go to the gym the first time and lift a 30kg weight would you ?

You would start small and continue to build your capacity

This is the same … you have to build your tolerance to handle distressing feelings and sensations to live a life that is free from anxiety and panic

Monitoring your body

Where fear is in its proper place - reserved for real property danger

And panic is no longer dictating where you go or what you do…

This is the first thing I would do …

It is constantly scanning for threat - this ensures that you notice and focus on the negatives , on what is wrong or what might go wrong .

So offset that influence

By looking for and noticing the good things

Studies have shown that you need 3-5 positive thoughts or experiences to counter balance the negatives

Best thing about being 55 (nearly 56! ) I stopped worrying what people think, mostly because I realised they rarely do.

It’s oddly liberating. You spend years second-guessing yourself, replaying conversations, wondering how you came across… and then one day it hits you: everyone else is far too busy doing the exact same thing. You are usually the last thing on their minds .

Still refuse to dance or mime words on social media ( but we all have our limits )

Turns out, freedom isn’t about age—it’s about perspective. And at 55, mine finally showed up ..albeit fashionably late 😂

Learning how to not give a fuck - it’s a skill . And like any other, it takes practice .

Menopause is not an ending—it’s an invitation.

An invitation to finally come home to yourself. To pause long enough to hear the inner wisdom that’s been quietly guiding you all along, beneath the noise of expectations, roles, and old stories you once believed you had to carry.

This stage of life asks you to let go—not as loss, but as liberation.

Let go of the version of you that lived for approval.
Let go of the limits you unconsciously accepted.
Let go of the belief that your power belonged anywhere outside of you.

when you recognise that your thoughts are not fixed truths, but patterns you’ve practiced. And what has been practiced can be re-written.

Sometimes all you need is someone to listen deeply and ask the right questions—then your own breakthroughs can begin to rise to the surface . We already have all we need within us to solve our problems or to find new ways of being and behaving . But we get caught up in the tangle of the problem - we are in a loop and can’t find the way out . Often I find that when someone is deeply heard and asked the right questions they begin to have profound breakthroughs that can change their perspective and that can change everything .

We all know about the racing heart, the overthinking, the tight stomach etc etc but anxiety can come with all kinds of symptoms ..

-_I used to be able to hear my own heartbeat in a noisy, crowded room ..panic would rise as the sun began to set … bedtime was horrific as there were no more distractions . I found my way out to the other side many years ago now and I love working with others who are suffering in the same way .

I think most people would agree that mainly … it’s the quality of our thoughts that shape the quality of our life

Keep asking yourself what’s right right now?

It might be taste of a cup of tea or noticing that maybe the Sun making its way through the clouds…

You can always find something if you look hard enough

set the intention every morning and look for the good stuff.. notice it , enjoy noticing it and then do that on repeat

The crap - that will still happen -
That’s life …
but the small good things still happen .. but now you are going to notice them

Same life .. but a very different experience of that life

I have a simole three step routine to help you with that ..

I’m Claire a hypnotherapist and mind coach working with people everyday to help them change their minds and change their lives ..

So b4 sleep

1. Write down 3 way that you showed up for you and your goals today
Maybe … you spoke up on a minute
…you made that call or you reinforced a boundary .

2. Mental Rehearsal of Tomorrow (2–3 minutes)

Close your eyes and imagine yourself navigating a situation successfully tomorrow.

Picture:
• Walking into a room confidently
• Sharing your thoughts clearly
• Taking bold action

Mental rehearsal activates the same motor and cognitive pathways used in real behavior.

3. Spend some time thinking about how you will be when you reach your goals - and start to incorporate that way of being now
Getting everything to align ..

By acting as if it has already happened

So … what would you wear for example ?

How would you sound?

What would you be doing ..

Three simple steps - that if done on repeat - and that is the a key can help you get grasp success instead of shying away from it

Your brain is constantly looking for direction and using past experiences to decide which route to take. If you don’t set a destination, it simply keeps following the same old roads — the same habits, thoughts and reactions.

This is where imagination matters.

When you vividly imagine how you want to think, feel or behave, your brain starts building a new route. Neuroscience shows that imagined experiences can activate many of the same neural pathways as real ones.

So in a way, your imagination is how you program the destination.

The more often you picture the route you want to take, the easier it becomes for your brain to guide you there!

So why not take 5 mins and program your own Sat nav with what you want ?

Once you fully understand that your self-talk isn’t just neutral background noise .. it’s programming you .. and that can be beneficial or detrimental ..you can understand how important it is to take control of the way you talk to yourself ..

The choice is yours ..

Here are three things that I say to myself to program my mind for success ..

1. “What small step can i take today to move me in the right direction …with every small step I am creating my own luck”
This shifts emphasis from pure chance to my own power

2. “I can do all kinds of things that I have never even thought possible”( and what might those things be ? )
This stretches my mind to go beyond the boundaries of my own programming

3. “ I can handle anything that comes my way”
This takes me out of survival mode and into that place in my mind where it can think creatively, come up with new ideas and light bulb moments and notice opportunities that I might otherwise miss.

As always ..awareness is the most important thing ..

Observing your own thoughts and self talk is the first step to creating the changes that can make all the difference.

It’s using the power of your mind that creates success - not chance .

Use the power of wonder … when you wake up - spend your first few waking moments just wondering what’s the absolute best thing that could happen to you that day .

2 . Awareness

Become aware of what it is, you focus on
Because What we focus on grows … what we focus on shapes the experience of our life

So if you’re focusing on the negative stuff - where you feel you are failing ..you are going to get more of that
But know that you CAN shift your focus
- it takes intention and repetition… ask yourself .. where am i doing well ? What is right in my world … and begin to notice the difference

Give that harsh nagging critic in your head again I’ve talked about this before mines called Vicky… but whenever I catch her bitching at me…. I just say thanks Vicky thats not helpful right now
and then I imagine a kinder, more encouraging voice talking to me …

Again - it takes intention and repetition to make a real difference … but you will thank yourself for it
